Back in 1938 a powerful hurricane slammed into R.I. & New England. In 1954 Hurricane Hazel battered the Carolinas before heading to Long Island. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy (the others weren’t Super storms) turned back and rammed New Jersey & Long Island. It’s happened before & it will happen again. But so soon? The Euro. & GFS models are hinting at a storm forming east of the Carolinas by Thursday and heading northward brushing the Carolinas. They then turn the storm back towards the coast nearing NYC late Sunday into Monday. Oh, if that happens the AGW crowd will be going nuts….see, see, Hurricane Sandy & (maybe) Hurricane Jerry sure point to Climate Change. Huh? What the real difference is…back in 1938 & 1954 PEOPLE were NOT living in harm’s way. The 50-70+ years since has seen a population explosion near the shore. What should you expect? I’m not normally a gloomy guy, but if I lived anywhere from the Carolinas northward, I’d be paying close attention to the weather the next 4-5 days. Stay tuned!
Locally, the development of that east coast storm should help flow down drier air over us for the next several days with plenty of sunshine and no rain. Still no real cold front in sight until October.
