A Soft Generation...

Maybe I'm just too old to remember, but I do recall the Great Chicago blizzard of 1967 that smothered the city in over 2 feet of snow and shut down all the major interstates.  It was followed the next weekend by another 9-10" of snow making over 3 feet on the ground.  How about the great blizzard of 1978 that shut down travel from Ohio to New England with 1-2 feet of snow & sub zero air temps with 30-50+ mph winds.   My point is if you were watching any of the networks today they were showing people trying to cope with far less snow and much warmer temperatures.  The whining got one to believe it's never done this before?  Really?   It is Winter after all.  Just because some past winters have been less brutal, part of a warming cycle, maybe we are returning back to the colder cycle of the 60s & 70s?  How many brutal Winters will we need to convince the non-believers that CO2 is not the driver of climate change.  Like religion, it is difficult to change one's faith.

In the short term, the Arctic grip is leaving the Gulf South and much warmer air will make us feel Spring-like.  A weak front will briefly cool us on Saturday but we'll rebound again on Sunday into next week. The question now is when do the 1st 80 degree day arrive?
