Fast Moving Storms...
A powerful upper disturbance is lifting well to our north, but it's dragging a cold front that is plowing into a very moisture rich & warm air mass covering the Gulf South. Heavy storms have been pounding south Mississippi with 3-5" of rain causing some flooding issues. As the line sweeps thru south LA. & coastal MS., I don't expect the rain totals to be much more than an inch. Skies quickly clear behind the front so Friday & Saturday should be delightful for the start of the weekend parades. Only slightly cooler air follows this front but beware...longer range computer models are forecasting another Polar Vortex (#7 !) to descend out of Canada bringing back Arctic air for much of the eastern 2/3 of the U.S. At this early date, it's too soon to know if it'll bring more freezing temps this far southward, but PLEEEASE...don't start planting the tomatoes and other tender veggies yet! I know this warm weather gets you pumped to get going in your gardens, but we really need to wait until after March 15th (on the South Shore) before we feel safe from more freezes. Stay Tuned!
