Historically we start seeing our 1st 90 degree day between May 20th & June 1st. It appears we will be on schedule as I'm predicting our 1st 90 will come next Wednesday May 21st. Before then we are enjoying a Fall Feeling tonight that will last for the next 3 mornings. In fact, you may need a light jacket or sweater as lows will dip into the 50s with some 40s on the North Shore. highs will stay in the 70s Thursday & Friday but warm back into the 80s Saturday & Sunday. A deep dip in the jet stream is driving the Candian chill into the deep south, but it will lift out and be replaced by an upper ridge for next week. Get out and enjoy the low humidity and sunshine before the dreaded muggies come back by Sunday.
Watching the news story on FOX 8 tonight about how the government is trying to control snapper fishing reminded me of how those in power can manipulate any data to suit their agenda. Yesterday it was NASA claiming the Antarctic ice melt was unstoppable and today it's a NOAA report that hurricanes are shifting nearer the poles. For cryin' out loud, never let facts get in the way of a good story. Read the fine print & you'll see the hurricane story is NOT from a NHC researcher, but a NOAA CLIMATE SCIENTIST. I have been to enough meetings where Dr. Chris Landsea (NHC's Science & Technolgy Officer) has debunked the claims by the Alarmist regarding hurricanes. Read the fine print in the story and the author only goes back 30 years. Why? Because during the 40s, 50s & 60s, the Hurricane CYCLE was taking storms farther to the north. We then had a shift farther southward for several decades before the shift has moved back northward. I say leave the hurricane research to the National Hurricane Center's scientists, not to a government climate expert who has been drinking the "cool aid" of AGW.
