Drying out, heating up...

Looking back at the past 8 years, we find only one that didn't have a 90 degree day as of June 3rd.  That was last year 2013 when we reached 90 on june 4th.  Audubon Park has reached 90+, but the official New Orleans reading comes from MSY where so far...no 90 degree days.  That's likely to change maybe as soon as tomorrow as an upper ridge is building over us allowing for more sunshine and fewer showers.  In fact, the rest of this week looks mostly dry which is great news for most of us since we have been soaked with 6-12"+ during the past 8 days.

Tropical Storm Boris was named this afternoon and he's moving inland tonight as a dangerous rainmaker along the West coast of Mexico.  The American model (GFS) continues to try to develop a tropical system  over the extreme southern Gulf late this week.   No concern for us as the upper ridge will block any northward movement toward us.      It appears the moisture stream coming from Boris is heading to South Florida later this week.  With strong SW shearing over the southern Gulf, I don't believe anything will develop.   More likely is a system spinning up over the weekend or early next week east of Florida along an old frontal boundary that will sag off the Carolina coast.  East of Florida means it is not a problem for the Gulf Coast.  Stay tuned!
