Mini Heat Wave Coming...

After nearly a week of rainy weather, where some spots have received over 13"+ of rain, a drying trend is about to set in.   I'm still seeing the upper low spinning over the western Gulf so I expect more showers will bubble up during daytime heating on tuesday.  However, by Wednesday, an upper ridge will begin building over us capping the atmosphere with few, if any, showers for the rest of this week.  That should result in high temperatures soaring into the 90s for the 1st time this year at MSY.   The upper ridge will keep any tropical moisture well south of us for the rest of this week as the main moisture plume heads towards Florida.  None of the computer models develop any system in the Gulf during the next 5-7 days.   If something were to form, it's more likely along a frontal boundary that will push off the East coast next week.  Stay tuned!
