Hawaii in Bullseye?

While Hurricane Bertha poses zero threat to the U. S. Mainland tonight, Major Cat. 4 Hurricane  Iselle is heading towards Hawaii.  It will weaken before it crosses the islands on Thursday & Friday but will likely bring Tropical Storm force winds and flooding rains.  Worse yet, Tropical Storm Julio is expected to strengthen & follow right behind Iselle by Sunday & Monday.  These storms will not come as a surprise since we now have satellite & computer technologies that allow many days of warning ahead of time.

Back to the Atlantic...Bertha is one of the weakest looking Hurricanes on satellite pictures tonight.   As she pulls away from the U.S., there is nothing out there that should develop during the next 5-7 days.

In the short term, we have a very hostile environment over the Gulf with strong NW to SW shearing winds.  We'll see some slow moving daily storms along with typical August heat.  IF an upper ridge builds over us later this week, we could see temps in the mid to upper 90s...our 1st heat wave of the summer.  Stay tuned!

Thanks for watching out for us Island folks Mr. Bob! Since being relocated to the islands from NOLA in December we are most certainly missing your great storm coverage. Much mahalo to you and your team!
