Nearing Fog Season...

While I was working, one of the things I paid close attention to was the temperatures of the waters in Lake Pontchartrain.  I learned from workers on the Causeway bridge that once water temperatures dipped below 60 degrees, that was a signal to pay attention for fog development once south winds returned following a strong cold front.  The south winds would bring back the warmer, moist air that would chill flowing over the cooler Lake resulting in a layer of dense fog forming.  Remember, fog is nothing but a cloud on the ground and it takes a cooling process for that to happen.   The colder the Lake water gets, the more likely fog will form and linger well into the day.   That is the biggest reason I live on the South Shore.

What beautiful weather we’ve been enjoying.  Sure we could use some rain, but the blue skies & bright sunshine coupled with low humidity and comfy cool temps allow for folks to get outside and enjoy any activity they chose.  This week looks like that pattern will continue as we have no strong fronts coming.   There will be a slight chance for rain midweek with a passing upper trough, but highs should top 70 just about every day.  The cold remains bottled up over central & eastern Canada for now.  Upper west coast troughs will bring them some rain & snow by early December, but for us we’ll stay mild for the next 7-10 days.  After that, the trend is for colder air to flow back over the east & south.  Stay tuned!

Michigan got beat, Tulane got beat, Saints got beat…thank goodness for LSU!
