Mad Money on Grand Isle...

The 2018 Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo enjoyed the best weather in recent memory as there were only a couple of showers with the main storm coming late Saturday night when most folks already were back at their camp/motel.  While co-hosting the awards ceremony with Jim Henderson (next year’s Rodeo President), the winner of 1st place in “white trout” was announced as JAMES CRAMER.   Nah, couldn’t be THE Jim Cramer host of CNBC’s  MAD MONEY each day at 5 PM?  But as soon as I saw him, IT WAS!  REAL MONEY, MAD MONEY on Grand Isle!  What a treat for me as Jim is truly one of the great entertainers on TV.   I tried to find him after the ceremony, but couldn’t among the hundreds who packed the pavilion.     I’ll be watching tomorrow to see if Jim shows off his winning trophy.  5PM on CNBC Ch. 43 on Cox Cable.

Not much has happened with our weather while I was gone.   We should see an increase in daily shower chances this week since another upper east coast trough tries to dig towards the Deep South.   That should result in lower (less hot) highs stopping in the lower 90s instead of the mid to upper 90s.   We remain roughly 6 weeks away from seeing the first real Fall cool front and about 10 weeks till some nice October fronts that’ll make us forget how miserable is our summer heat.

The Tropics remain dead, although models are hinting that the Eastern Pacific will get active  by late week.   None of the models have anything forming that could affect us.   Our most likely next storm will come from a frontal boundary pushing off the Carolinas or down into the northern Gulf. Right now, upper lows are over the SE Gulf & Haiti making for a hostile environment for tropical development.  Stay tuned!
