Weak Front Coming, But Not Cold, or Even Cooler...

Today saw way fewer showers and that allowed highs to get back into the mid-90s with the heat index peaking at 113!   A weak front is coming that will bring us drier (less humid) air, but high temps are still likely to reach the low to mid-90s.   What will be different will be the feel, especially late evening into early mornings.   Don’t expect more fronts anytime soon as it looks like we’ll stay very warm well into mid-September.  With mostly dry and very hot temps the next 2-3 days, you’ll need to water your gardens and potted plants.  Daily showers return for Saturday & Sunday as the “good feel” air leaves us.

While the Atlantic remains quiet, a major Cat. 5 hurricane (Lane) is threatening to batter most of the Hawaiian Islands tomorrow thru Friday.  I’m sure we’ll be seeing some spectacular video of winds, waves and rain as this is a dangerous storm that doesn’t happen very often to Hawaii.   Each model run has brought the center of Lane closer and closer so that the question no longer is will Hawaii have impacts, but rather how bad will they be?   Hopefully all residents and tourists will listen to the local officials so the loss of life & property will be minimal.   We know what a major storm can do and only hope the worst stays offshore.   Still no signs of development in the Atlantic during the next 7-10 days.  I suspect September into early October will become more active in our part of the World, but each day that is quiet is one less to go till the real cold fronts start coming.  Stay tuned!
