As I mentioned before, it appears the MJO will go into the sinking air mode for the next week to 10 days. However, it is forecasted to return to rising air mode by the 26th and continue into early October. This afternoon’s run of the GFS (American Model) indicates a hurricane or tropical storm will move across the Caribbean and be near the Yucatan by the first week in October. We may not be done with all hurricane threats just yet. What we need are for the cold fronts to start coming and the same model does show one approaching the deep South for that 1st week in October. That could block any storms from us and turn them to the east. Way too soon to speculate about something that might never form.
Locally, we shattered another heat record reaching 98 again today. Geez, it wasn’t that hot in July or August and we are past mid-September. Our only hope for relief the next 2-3 days will be an increase in PM storms. We shouldn’t be whining because of a little heat. Just look at North Carolina & their flooding. We could have it a lot worse. Stay tuned!
