I'm so sad on nights like this when Captains, krewe members/riders & parade goers are all losers due to rainy weather. So much effort & money is extended into making each parade special, but it's Mother Nature who has the say on whether it's been a good night. Tonight's rain couldn't have come at a worse time (6-8 PM) as that is prime time for most of today's parades. Of course riders in parades for next week & weekend at wondering if their parade will suffer the same fate? Right now, about the only thing I'm comfortable saying is the major parades next weekend will have to deal with much cooler temperatures (40s & 50s versus today's 75-80). As the front pulls away, Sunday should see some filtered sunshine with cooler and much drier air that will last into Monday. It looks like some showers could redevelop for Tuesday-Thursday, but they should be spotty and light. Another stronger front arrives on Friday with a better shower threat followed by colder and drier air for Saturday & Sunday. Too soon to go beyond that. Stay tuned!
The new location for Jefferson Parish's Family Gras is a winner at Clearview Mall. They have some really good acts and the bigger space gives it a mini Jazz Fest feel complete with big screens in case you're farther back in the crowds. You need to check it out.
