Yep, that's the words I was hearing by a variety of reporters regarding the strong storm/blizzard over the Rockies & central Plains. What that tells me is most of these folks are too young to remember the Great Lakes/East Coast blizzard of Feb. '78 or the March super snow storm of 1993. Perhaps some weren't even born yet? Sure today's storm is a big one, but it's happening over the less populated parts of our country. The '78 & '93 storms buried the main population centers east of the Mississippi and certainly had much great impacts. Heck, the Atlanta airport was closed because of heavy snow. Not many plows in Georgia! But maybe I over-ventilate on the overhype?
Our forecast appears to be on track with the best chances for rain coming late Thursday into early on Saturday. This cold front will have lots of clouds and light rain behind it making for an ugly Friday into early on Saturday. Clearing skies return for Saturday PM into Sunday with a nice warm up for the old Metairie St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday. The last week in March looks uneventful with no major storms or cold air coming. Stay tuned!
