Almost Hot, But Not Gawd Awful...

Saw where both Bruce & David talked about the heat index reaching 100 degrees in a few spots.  Hot for sure, but let's remember the "normal" heat index EVERYDAY from June through early September is 100+.  I was out working in the yard today and I think what is keeping us from feeling "August hot" is the winds.  We have been breezy all week and that is a big deal.   As we get deeper into June & July, we'll feel the heat more as winds typically are less unless you're down along the coast.  What's called the "sea breeze" often brings us some relief along with daily shower chances.  The next 5 days will stay mostly dry since the upper isn't changing.  A deep trough is making the West cool & wet while the Southeast is hot & dry.  In-between is the battleground where storms keep firing off dumping unwanted heavy rains.    Even though the Ohio River is falling, the huge rain totals in the central Plains have the Missouri & Arkansas Rivers going nuts.  They both flow into the lower Mississippi and that means our high river water here will continue for the next 3-4 weeks at least.     With the American long range model showing a tropical system possible in the 12-14 day time frame approaching South Florida,  that's all we need.   .We'll have plenty of time to watch this, but I don't like high Mississippi River levels well into hurricane season.   Enjoy our hot & dry holiday weekend weather.  Stay tuned!
