Flooding Potential Lessens...

After a wet, ugly morning, this afternoon turned dry with some sunshine.  One thing I've noticed is the dismal performance of computer models trying to handle the timing & amount of rainfall during the past 2 days.   From what I'm seeing is we could see quite a break in the action until a weak cold front staggers through during the day on Sunday.   NWS is keeping up the flood watch, but their discussion indicated they have "low confidence" in the timing of our next round of rain.   I'm watching an upper disturbance dive down out of Canada that should flatten the Rockies trough that has created the stormy SW flow for the past few days.   That switch to a more west to east upper flow should mean drier weather returning for Sunday PM into early next week.   Unfortunately, it still doesn't look like a pretty Mother's Day so have the rain gear handy as you head to Sunday Brunch.

A couple of items...The Corps of Engineers moved quickly to reopen the Spillway this afternoon as the River at the Carrollton gage jumped a half foot overnight.   They think it will only be opened 10-14 days this time unless more heavy rains fall farther up north.  Also, very chilly air covers a good part of the country with Dallas staying in the 50s most of today.  If you are planning a trip to the Northeast this weekend, be prepared for some nasty weather as a coastal low will make it feel more like March instead of May.    The recent rains are just what my garden needed.  Flowers are blooming, grass is growing, life is good.   Enjoy your weekend.   Stay tuned!
