Multi-day Rain Event...

The current upper pattern producing widespread heavy rains from Texas into Georgia will finally change, but not until Sunday PM.  That means many locations that have seen flooding could get several more rounds of pounding downpours.   Locally today it was the North Shore that got hammered with spots getting 3-5".  I only had .42" in Metairie while Kenner received .11".   Another upper disturbance is firing off a new round around Houston and the question for us is...where will Friday's storms develop?   It appears the heaviest will again be to our north and west, but it doesn't take much to shift the axis of heavy storms closer to us.   As I pointed out yesterday, there could be many dry hours between downpours so don't cancel any plans until we have a better handle where the heavy rains set up.  Saturday looks similar on into Mother's Day with some drier air arriving by later on Sunday.

When I went outside to get my morning Advocate, the heavy air smacked me in the face.  Geez, was it humid or what?   Checked the dewpoint and saw it was 74 which signals summer has arrived.   Fortunately, the afternoon showers brought down a mini-cold front/outflow boundary that lowers dewpoints back into the 60s and made it feel more comfortable this evening while I took Baily for her walk.   Those crisp, cool mornings of several weeks ago won't return until sometime in October.  Or, you could live in Boulder, CO. where today they held their graduation ceremonies outside in Folsom Field.   Almost funny seeing graduates in cap & gowns with SNOW on the ground!  Yea, it snowed on May 9th.   74 dewpoints or 30s & snow?  You make the call.  Stay tuned!
