Chantal Still Waiting to be Used...

TD #3 was quickly torn apart by upper wind shear and drier air this morning as recon aircraft found no closed surface circulation.   If anything did develop (unlikely) this afternoon, it would be well off the east coast of the U.S. going out to sea.   Our cold front is still on track to bring us a welcomed change late tonight into Wednesday & Thursday.  However, based on the Euro model run, NHC is now placing a large area of the central Gulf in a 20% chance for development as the frontal boundary stalls well south of us.   Hopefully later model runs won't show development but it's something to watch since that's what happens at this time of the year when fronts push down over the warm Gulf.  Look for some strong storms to develop ahead of the front this afternoon and evening followed by increasing northerly winds for tonight and Wednesday.  Those winds will turn to the east on Thursday and then SE for Friday & the weekend allowing Gulf moisture to return.  RIGHT NOW, that means just some spotty T-Storms typical of late July.  If a low does form on the front down over the Gulf, that would change things.  It's something I'll be watching closely since the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo begins on Thursday.

Still plenty of time to register and come on down to where the fishing has not been affected by the Spillway opening.  Hope to see you there.  Next update around 5 PM. Stay tuned!
