Goodbye to Dorian...

The eyewall of Hurricane Dorian is battering the North Carolina coast tonight and it will race out into the Atlantic by late Friday.  So we focus back on our local weather and ask..."when will this brutal heat end?"  The easy answer is not right away as we'll flirt with record heat through this weekend.  By Sunday afternoon, we should start to see a couple of PM storms with next week looking much wetter as rain chances go up.  If you want to know when a REAL cold front arrives, long range guidance suggests around the 20th.   A weak front could sneak through this weekend, but it won't bring cooler air, just drier.   Bottom line, we have about another 2 weeks to deal with summer heat before relief shows up.  And then it's on to October!

One positive news point, none of the long range models see any tropical activity in the Gulf for the next 10-14 days.  So unless something develops close to home, I'm thinking of giving "the Fat Lady" a call to see where's she working and might she be available during the first week in October?   Stay tuned!
