The good feeling air we are enjoying will not stick around much longer. However, models are showing fronts will be coming over the next 2 weeks bringing more and more cold air. Alaska is mostly below freezing as is much of Canada.
Even the lower 48 has cooled down with the exception of the extreme SE. I noticed the water temperature at Shell Beach has fallen from 87 last Friday to 80 degrees this morning. The Gulf remains plenty warm to support tropical activity, but what is changing is the increased westerly upper wind flow. That's what we like to see as it reduces our threat for tropical activity over the norther Gulf.
NHC still is following a cluster of clouds over the southern Caribbean that looks like it's heading into central America.
After the Saints win today, I'm going to start bringing out my fall weather gear as the chill is coming. Stay tuned!
