After a very dry past 6-8 weeks, there are signs that we will get into much higher rain chances during the next 7-10 days.
What's over us today is rain breaking out along a warm front that has surged northward across the North Shore. NHC is still hinting that there could be something developing over the southern Gulf Later this week that could bring a tropical surge to us for this weekend. There is nothing there yet, but the American (GFS) model is trying to develop a weak Gulf low off our coast for Saturday or Sunday. Our next cold front arrives on Wednesday Morning bringing us some showers with an even stronger front coming for early next week. In between we could have that tropical surge so our recent dry pattern looks to be coming to an end.
Right now the Gulf is quiet and warm air has replaced the weekend's good feel air with much higher low level moisture (humidity). The next front will sweep away that humidity and replace it with much drier good feeling air for Thursday and Friday. The weekend could be interesting if the GFS model proves correct. Not unheard of to see a late October storm form over the southern Gulf. Stay tuned!
