My oldest son lives in Longmont, CO. (outside Boulder) and yesterday he enjoyed temps in the lower 80s. Look at the camera looking into his backyard today.
Temperatures are 50-60 degrees colder which would be a real shock to anyone's system. Is that cold coming here? Well kind of. We have more near record heat today and Friday before a front staggers through for Saturday and Sunday. Our cooldown will not be as drastic, but any relief will be welcomed. The main question then is...will the front bring us any rain? There might be a few showers ahead and along the front, but I am not expecting any flooding downpours. We have a few showers around at midday, but coverage is mainly to our south & west.
The Tropics have gone quiet and NHC isn't really watching any system except the cold core non-tropical low off the east coast. Satellite pictures look like a hurricane and tropical storm force winds are battering the coasts, but this system is more like a winter time Nor'Easter.
The Gulf has nothing for us to worry about and no model shows any development for the next 7-10 days.
Enjoy this weekend's front as more are coming. Stay tuned!
