Yesterday NHC gave the area over the southern Gulf a 30% chance for development for this weekend. They now have upgraded those chances to 60%.
The daylight (Visible) satellite loop shows a well defined circulation and several computer models indicate some kind of system forming over the central Gulf south of the LA/MS coastlines. Could NHC start putting out another PTC (Potential Tropical Cyclone) advisory later today or tonight? Possibly.
There is a strong cold front across central Texas that should arrive here on Saturday and that should deflect whatever forms (TD or TS) to our east. It's snowing over the Texas Panhandle while Houston is in the 80s. For us, this disturbance could enhance rain totals if it moves closer to us. Right now, NWS is calling for 2-3" totals with the rains beginning tonight lasting off & on through midday on Saturday. Hopefully all the rain will be east before kickoff for LSU vs Auburn in Baton Rouge?
Sunday should be dry for Saints tailgating into Monday before another front arrives late Tuesday of next week. That front looks stronger than this 1st front coming here on Saturday. October 2019 will be recalled for its hot start and cold finish. Get ready to ride those roller coaster temperature extremes as we head towards Winter. Stay tuned!
