A November to Remember?

I have often pointed out the way Mother Nature works.  One month can have record breaking heat for weeks before the opposite happens during the next month or two.  There is no such thing as NORMAL   Normal is the AVERAGE (usually for the last 30 years) of the high & low.  Rarely do we see the temperatures reach the NORMAL.   Early October started off with record heat and ended with modest cold.  November began cold, and after a brief warming this week, the next 2-3 weeks look really cold.   Frankly (you know I hate cold), I haven't minded the recent chill as I have been dressed for it,  As we get deeper into Winter, I know I will not like the brutal chill that many forecasters say is coming for December through February.  Stay tuned!

This week we'll see highs climb back to 70+ before the next front arrives Thursday night.  I don't see much shower activity with this front and highs return to the 50s & 60s on Friday & Saturday.  Yet another front plows through late Monday making for a chilly next week.   Water temps in Lake Pontchartrain are down into the mid to upper 60s and "Fog Season" usually begins once water temps dip below 60.  The cold air continues to build across Canada with many stations below zero.  We can forget the Tropics for the rest of tis year as the cold air has driven that threat away, and for that we say Hooray!

I was in Dallas this past week for the memorial service for my brother-in-law Jerry.  We had the opportunity to drive through the area (Preston Hollow) that was battered by the tornadoes 2 weeks ago.  What a sight with lots of damage just like it happened yesterday.  It is hard to believe no one was killed, but the locals tell me that it occurred during the Cowboys game, meaning no one was outside.  Scary stuff to see.  Jerry is buried in a location very near to one of his favorite ballplayers.

Mickey was a great ballplayer,  Jerry was a great person.  They had different talents, but both affected many people on this planet.  Many are better for knowing these great human beings.  R.I.P.
