Climate Change Data...

We all know daily weather extremes are not the same as long term (months/years) climate changes.  We have been in a nearly 40 year warming climate CYCLE and I have no argument with that.  However, when there are record highs, the Press/media goes nuts reporting on it telling us the Planet is on fire. BUT, when we have widespread record lows, you really have to look hard to find much info on that.  My colleague, Joe D'Aleo with Weather Bell Analytics posted these recent numbers regarding the October cold that covered the western states.   For 2019 (the whole year) there have been 90 all time record lows across the U.S. versus 44 all times record highs. Have you heard that reported anywhere?   But there's more Lee Zurik!  For October 2019, there were 3680 new daily record lows, of which 32 were all time record lows.   There were ZERO all time record highs in October.  Hummm, gets one to wonder.

Our recent cool spell is gone as we warmed back into the 70s today.  Wednesday & Thursday will remain warm (75-80+) before the next strong front plows through early on Friday.  That will make for a comfy cool weekend if you are dressed for it.   but there is more cold coming as much of northern Canada is below zero.

One thing that hasn't kicked in YET, is the sub-tropical storm track.  In fact, right now the storm track is coming down out of Canada into the lower 48.  That is a recipe for cold air moving into the lower 48.   If we were in Dec.-Feb., southern snow storms would be on the table.  yikes!  Stay tuned!
