Since our weather pattern is so quiet, I thought I'd ask if you read the article in Today's ADVOCATE regarding better building practices? It's in the Business section and well worth reading. For years FLASH (Federal Alliance for Safe Homes) has suggested building stronger in regions that have more extreme weather events. Makes total sense, spend a little more up front & save a lot later. Why hasn't that happened? Government gives incentives for just about anything, why not one for building stronger homes? Save 10% on your Federal taxes. Heck, I bet that would get many folks interested in a hurry. The Insurance industry won't do it, but the government could. Nah, makes too much sense.
This week should be dry with a gradual warming trend. In fact, the freeze line tonight has retreated way to the north.
We will not see another Arctic outbreak for the next 7-10 days or longer. I will move most of my tropical plants back outside so they can get more sunshine. There might be a front over next weekend that could bring our next shower threat, but we will be dry most of this week. Morning fog (see yesterday's post) could become a problem later this week as we warm up and south winds return low level moisture.
Our hurricane season ended many weeks ago, but NHC can't leave this year without one more named storm. An area way out in the Atlantic is given a 50% chance to develop. Before the satellite era in the 70s, these systems would go unnoticed. Difficult to compare history when technology keeps improving. So quiet, I may have a fishing report later this week. Stay tuned!
