Colder, But No Polar Express Coming...

Even a warm weather geek like me agrees that 80+ degrees in December is way too warm.  My home thermometer at noon reached 80.2 degrees shortly before the cold front blew through dropping us 14 degrees in 12 minutes.  This current cool down will get us back to slightly below normal, but only for 2 days as the core of this newest Arctic invasion will remain well to our north and east.

Even though the front has pushed down to our coast, clouds & showers linger well behind making for the need for heavy coats tonight and Wednesday.

You can clearly see the abrupt line of clouds with the front with the cloud deck lingering back over most of Texas.
We are not likely to see much sun the next several days as another weak upper disturbance races in for early Friday.  The weekend will see a rapid warmup back into the 70s before a stronger front arrives next week.  It could really get stormy for much of the eastern states leading up to Christmas travel.

I am so fortunate to be able to fish with some really talented guys.  Of course you know about my past trips with Capt. Hylton Petit my State Farm agent (notice clever headgear to protect from sun!), but yesterday we shared the boat with Jim "Bass Master" Henderson, longtime voice of the New Orleans Saints.

We launched out of Hylton's camp at Shell Beach and had a really successful day.  Didn't make our limits, but we ended up with 56 trout and 4 bass.   20+ of those trout were boated in the last hour of fishing when Jim caught fire with 9 really nice trout on Vudu shrimp (glow).   Had "Hondo" not been holding out on us the previous 6 hours (4 fish), we might have reached our limits.  As you can see, Jim is doing quite well in retirement, and so am I!   Stay tuned!

Great fishing. I went out of Pointe a la Hache and drew a blank. Can't fish that area any more because of river water. Got to head toward the ship channel and get away for the river. Kinda sad cause I used to catch all the trout I wanted back of ointe a la Hache but no more. Places I used to fish are all river water and hyacinths. And I have been fishing there since 1950--so I am really upset. But I know things change and I got to change with them. God Bless ev eryone and Merry Christmas
