Tragedy in Tennessee...

Back in April of 1974, I was on the air during the Xenia, Ohio EF 5 tornado that killed 32 people.   That tornado happened during the late afternoon (4-5 PM) hours when folks were awake.  Last night an EF3 tornado crushed several communities just north of Nashville killing 25 & injuring many others.  It happened just after midnight, a weatherman's worse nightmare when most folks are long asleep.  It reminded me of the importance of having your phone's Weather App set to alert you when warnings are issued.   In 1974, there were no cell phones & the only way people heard about weather warnings were through their local radio & TV stations.   That worked OK IF you happened to be watching TV or listening to your radio.  Modern technology makes being warned much easier through your cell phone.   Have you checked your App's settings to be sure you have the alerts turned on?  Now is a good time to check since SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has us in the slight risk area for Wednesday.

The cold front that produced last night's storms has pushed to the East coast with the trailing end becoming stationary just to our north.  A strong upper disturbance  is moving into west Texas and is expected to trigger some severe weather for parts of the Deep South Wednesday PM into Wednesday night.  As the front pushes through us on Thursday, we'll be noticeably cooler, but the real cold air remains trapped up in Canada & Alaska.

Some of that chill will move over the Great Lakes and Northeast during the next 2 weeks, but I don't see us getting into any super cold.  Stay tuned!

While fishing with Capt. Hylton, Billy Kelly & Rob Hess the past 2 days, we saw some really good fishermen.   It's so much fun watching them dive for food.  I caught the biggest trout (18"+), but Capt. Hylton caught the 2 biggest fish, a black drum and a 30" redfish (both released).

I find fishing so relaxing & enjoyable.   Then I read in the Advocate that studies show golfers live longer lives.   Retirement allows me to do both!   Can't wait to do both with Ethan who turned 11 months today.

I lived in Ohio at that time. It was a tragedy. Funny thing is that my best friend had a speeding ticket and it was lost in the destruction of the storm so he got off the hook!! He was to go to court but never had to. Very different now!!!!
