Winter to Exit on Warm note...

Astronomical Spring arrives after dark on Thursday and this mild Winter will go out with near record warmth.   I caution those who think we're done with any more chilly days.    Models are showing the eastern upper ridge will finally break down later this week allowing a cold front to reach us by Saturday.  The last week in March and the first week in April could be cooler than the past 6 weeks.

Currently, a huge storm system is bringing much needed rain and snow to the western states with temperatures requiring heavy coats.  With the SW flow stalling fronts to our north and west, a real battle ground is set up for this week.

We'll stay 80+ through Friday with the cool down coming for next weekend.  Right now, models are hinting the front will stall along the northern Gulf with a cold rain shield developing north of the front.  Next weekend will not be as nice as this one.
Finally, the National Hurricane Conference is supposed to be held in Orlando the first week in April.  With current restrictions increasing daily for the coronavirus, I'm pretty sure it will be cancelled.
Satellite pictures today found a well defined swirl northeast of Puerto Rico.  Hurricane season is still 2 1/2 months away and some early season forecasts indicate it will be another active one.  Hate to even think about it as we have enough anxiety now to the virus scare.  Stay tuned!
