Easter Sunday Severe Storms Potential...

I am always leery of a forecast going out in time too far as the accuracy beyond 2-3 days drops off sharply.  However, when that outlook comes from SPC (Storm Prediction Center), I pay attention as these guys are good.

They are indicating an area just to our north has a high likelihood for severe storms on Sunday even including us in a "hatched in area" for higher risk for severe storms.   Why?   An upper low has been stuck over southern California for several days bringing them needed rainfall.  That low is forecasted to kick out eastward this weekend interacting with a strong surge of low level Gulf moisture creating an environment conducive for strong to severe storms & tornadoes across the Gulf South.   It all means there is POTENTIAL for severe weather to develop.  As my ex-World Series Hero Ron Swoboda once told mean..." POTENTIAL means it hasn't happened yet".  We have enough stress already from Covid 19.  Let's not get over stressed by the potential for severe weather until Sunday & then see if it does develop.  Now is the time to make sure you have your FOX 8 weather App ready to alert you on your cell phones if warnings are issued.

Over night a cold front swept through bringing a few showers, heavier across the North Shore.  Our record warmth has been replaced by more typical April temperatures, but we should jump back briefly into the 80s on Sunday.   As the western storm heads our way and drags our next front through Sunday PM, expect a more significant cool down coming for next week (40s North Shore) that will bring back the sweaters and jackets.   It should make for a terrific week of Spring Weather.

A story on FOX 8 talked about how we all need to have a daily sense of purpose in order to not fall into a state of depression during these difficult times.  I've been immersed in my gardening with many of my Eastertime flowers (Lily, Jasmine, Crown of Thorns) blooming.  My wife Brenda has found solace in resurrecting her artistic talent.  Her latest inspiration for Easter is this cross.  She and I send our prayers & appreciation to all the health care providers, the grocery workers & all of those essential folks for continuing to work through this crisis as they help our lives continue to move forward.  Our prayers also go out to all the families affected by this pandemic, especially those who have lost loved ones.  Have a Blessed Easter Weekend & stay tuned!
