If this is your first summer of living in the south, you are probably shell shocked by our brutal heat & humidity. Most of the eastern states are suffering together with dew points 70+ all the way up to Milwaukee & Omaha.
In fact, only up in New England and areas west of Denver have cooler weather. The west is down right chilly with highs in the 40s & 50s under an upper level low.
We did see several afternoon Storms develop during daytime heating, but coverage was only 20%, way under a typical 40-50% coverage we normally.
I ran through a shower in Kenner that drifted eastward to Slidell during the past hour. I don't see any major changes coming for the next 2-3 days. Maybe by Friday & Saturday we'll see our rain chances go up, but that might be wishful thinking?!!!
NHC is still watching 2 areas for possible develop but is not giving either much of a chance. More Saharan dust covers the Caribbean and southern Gulf and that will drift over us later this week. We are still weeks away from the heart of hurricane season and June and July typically doesn't see many storms. The named systems so far this summer have all been minor. The major systems usually wait until August & September, I really don't want to think about that just now as the heat has fried my brain & I'm going to get my afternoon meds (Vodka tonic!). Stay tuned!
