First was Paulette, Now Rene, Sally Coming Soon?

As I mentioned in my last post, I was pretty sure TD 18 would become Tropical Storm Rene.  So we now have 2 Tropical Storms out in the Atlantic with another one coming later this week.  You can see the 3 systems on satellite views, but the good news is the first 2 will re-curve far out in the Atlantic and not impact the U.S.

The top track is Paulette while the bottom one is Rene.  NHC still is highlighting an area to watch near Bermuda and clouds have blossomed down in the Caribbean.  Neither of these systems are expected to develop quickly.

None of the tropical models are indicating anything developing in the Gulf or Caribbean during the next 10-14 days.  Over the U.S. smoke still covers much of the West and Southwest, but look at the clouds across the northern states.  That's a strong invasion of cold air plunging out of Canada that is bringing a change of seasons with temperature drops of 20-30 degrees.

As I mentioned this morning, the cooler air will stay over the west and NOT come down to us.  We'll have to wait until after the 20th to see a REAL cold front push through.   It's exciting to watch the building cold after months of brutal heat & humidity.  We need to see an East Coast upper trough develop to bring the cooler air to us and that is not happening this week.  Patience friends.  Stay tuned!
