1st Front Moving Thru, Heaviest Rains North...

A weak cold front is approaching bringing a band of showers and T-Storms with it.  By far the more widespread & heaviest/strongest storms are staying north of Lake P.

this front is being driven by a vigorous upper disturbance centered over Missouri with the trailing front pushing down into the Gulf off the Texas coast (arrow).

The air behind this front is slightly cooler, but the front will stall along the northern Gulf coast tomorrow returning northward as a warm front on Friday.  Several upper disturbances will trigger waves of showers and storms with Friday through Sunday looking very wet at times.

In fact, the possible rainfall totals could exceed 5-8" over the next 7 days with the bullseye over the upper Texas coast into western Louisiana.

RIGHT NOW, NWS is calling for 2-4" across SE LA spread out over several days with the heavier amounts north and west of Lake P.   All signs still point to our first real feel of Winter-like temperatures  for Monday through Thursday of next week with the North Shore seeing freezing (28-32) readings.   This will not be a problem for pipes, but you need to get your yard ready in terms of plants, hoses & animals.

Finally, I spotted yesterday's snowfall on the daylight view over Colorado & Kansas.  All that white over Colorado is snow as it doesn't move on satellite loops. Likewise for that small stripe in Kansas. Early season snows in Colorado normally would mean a great start to the ski season.  However, in the year of Covid, I'm not sure how much of a ski season will be allowed?  Just another example of how this virus sucks!  Stay tuned!
