Little Change in Thinking, Freeze the Main Concern...

Much of our state is under a Winter Storm Warning except for us ixtreme SE Louisiana.   Parts of the FOX 8 Viewing area could see some mixed (sleet/freezing rain) precipitation, but most of us will just endure a cold rain.

The top 2 graphics are from the local NWS office that shows how close the freezing rain threat gets to us.  You should not try any travel west of north of NOLA tomorrow.   The bottom 2 graphics are from the national office of NWS showing how widespread the winter weather warnings are.

We'll see a round of rain on Monday with another round coming late Wednesday.  In between, computer guidance has a moderate to hard freeze here on Tuesday morning.  I removed ( with help from my neighbor fearless David) the final 34 grapefruit from my tree this afternoon and even got my crown of thorns into my shed.  I drained all the water from my hoses and placed insulated covers over my outside faucets.  I will lose some in ground plants, but they usually grow back.  Hopefully we won't stay in the 20s too long.

Clouds cover 80% of the nation and that is not likely to change very much this week as storms keep coming in from the Pacific.  You can see the freeze line is just west of Baton Rouge.

The center of the massive Arctic high remains over the northern Plains and many all time records will be shattered during the next 2-3 days.  Oklahoma City is 6 degrees and that has frozen the pipes at their water plant.   Much of the south side of OKC is without water!   Dallas is down to 14 !!!   We'll be dealing with those issues tomorrow night into Tuesday.

Finally, those of you who have wondered where David Bernard has been found out this morning when he posted this picture of his Father who passed away last week.   The resemblance is stunning between David & his Dad.  Such a handsome & distinguished looking fella.   Let us all keep the Bernard family in our prayers during their time of grief.     Stay tuned!
