Relief So close, Yet So Far...

We have been stuck in an upper air pattern that keeps cold fronts from pushing through sweeping away the muggies/humidity.  A weak front did sneak through this morning, but the drier, good feel air remains to our north & west.

We are slightly cooler, but you can see the 30s & 40s dew points are back over Texas and north Louisiana.   The few showers that were with the front around noon have faded.   Already showers are streaming back from the SW behind the front.

You can see most of the West and Plains are sunny and nice while the clouds remain draped over the Gulf coast.  There still is cold air over the Great Lakes, but until the upper apttern changes, we will stay warm & humid.

Computer models are flipping the upper pattern by midweek.  Today there is a trough moving over the Great Lakes that has brought down some Canadian chill.  The current trough isn't deep enough to push the southern frontal boundary down into the Gulf, but there will be a deeper upper trough coming for Easter weekend.

The top graphic is today's upper flow with the middle one valid for Tuesday morning.  the bottom is valid for Thursday morning.  You can see how the upper flow over us goes from SW to WSW to NW by the end of the week.  This should result in moving a stronger front by us late Wednesday.

In fact, look at the numbers for this weekend.  Both sides of the Lake should see lows in the 40s with highs mid to upper 60s.  That is great feeling air and, with a sweater or jacket, it will feel terrific.  Unfortunately, low level moisture and clouds return on Easter Sunday.  Stay tuned!
