Slow Moving Western Storm Keeps Us Warm...

Finally the upper low off of California is moving, but at a snail's pace.  It will take several more days for it to lift out to the NE as it waits for another system behind it to kick it eastward.  Snow has finally begun along the Front Range and totals are still expected to be in feet.

The last two pictures are downtown Denver with the 1st taken yesterday afternoon while the bottom is from today.

As you can see, south of the stalled front temps are in the 70s & 80s while north of the front it's 40s & 50s.  There will be bands of showers moving along the front, but most of that will stay north of us.  The next front won't push through until late Wednesday of next week.

Next weekend we'll see nights dipping into the 40s so don't put away your sweaters and jackets.  In fact, the following week could turn colder if models are correct in bringing back the East coast upper trough.  Note much of central and northern Canada remains well below zero.

So you warm weather geeks (me!), enjoy the warmth for a while longer.   I'll be watching to see if heavy rains break out up river that could worsen the predicted 13 foot crest coming on March 21st.   Enjoy the weekend and stay tuned!
