SPC's Afternoon Update Stays The Course...

As I mentioned in my previous post this morning, the forecasters at SPC are really good at what they do.  They highlighted an area for severe weather potential today and their latest update just issued at 3 pm has only a subtle shift to the south. Already severe tornadoes have been reported in Mississippi & Alabama to our north right in the areas of highest risk.

That brings the area of danger closer to us with level 3 risks now covering parts of the South Shore.  It still looks like the greater risk will be the farther north you go with most of the North Shore in level 4.  Tornado Watches cover almost all of Louisiana & Mississippi.

We should stay mostly dry for another 2-3 hours before the storms arrive between 6:30 & 9 PM.   Make sure you have your FOX 8 Weather App. set correctly so you'll hear the alerts if warnings are issued.

The upper low is now into Oklahoma with a sharp clearing line behind the trailing cold front.  I've highlighted 2 areas of active T-Storms with the one to the NE pulling away while the one to the west comes closer.   Unless more storms form farther to the south over the Gulf, the bulk of the storms to our west will go north of Lake P.    Lets stay on high alert for the next 4-5 hours until the front blows through.

Tomorrow will be such a different day as much drier air sweeps in giving us a good feel to the cooler air.   The good news for us is most of the storms should be to our east before dark thanks to switching to CDT last weekend.  I heading to watch Bruce & David on FOX 8 at 4 & 5 pm.  Stay tuned!
