From The Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Metairie...

On this Memorial Day 2021, I look back to the first week in June 1970 when I volunteered for the Marine Corps Reserves and left my wife of 6 months to journey off to San Diego for Marine Corps boot camp.   Hey, I served my country and avoided Vietnam, but many others didn't.  Today we salute all those brave men & women, like my Dad Bernie, who gave up years of their lives (sometimes even their life) so that their children could stay free.  Thanks Pops!

I even have some of the currency he collected while in France & Germany.  To all of those veterans, this is your day where we say...THANK YOU !

OK, tomorrow kicks off 6 months of anxiety as the 2021 Hurricane season begins.  Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM FOX 8 has their annual hurricane special.  Watch it, tape it or do both.  Nothing is out there right now according to NHC, but as Sean Frazende FOX 8 Sports likes to say..."Upon further review,,," I'm seeing a little swirl in the radar loop just east of Florida.  That is along the old frontal boundary that stretches back into the Atlantic.  Just thought I'd mention.

The front remains well off our coast with only some scattered clouds with it.  Dew points are surging northward across Texas and that's a sign of things to come here.

Our delightful stretch of late May weather is about to end, not to return until October.  What will return will be our daily shower chances due to daytime heating bubbling up scattered storms.  For today though, let's enjoy one more day in paradise!  Stay tuned!
