What a Remarkable Way to End May...

When I went outside to get my morning Advocate, it almost felt chilly with temps. in the mid 60s with a stiff north wind making it feel colder.  Are we in a dream?  Isn't our "normal/average" high near 90?  Rather than complain, I'm hoping many of you are outside and enjoying it as a rare late May cold front has settled down over the northern Gulf. (see arrows)

All of the North Shore started in the 50s, but that high sun angle has warmed us back into the lower 80s.  However, since the humidity is much lower, it really feels great.

As the center of the surface shifts to our east, winds will swing around back off the Gulf by late Tuesday bringing back the muggies.   It'll start to feel way more summer-like later this week along with a return of our shower chances.

Now I hate to remind you what begins on Tuesday.  Yep, the 2021 Hurricane Season.

The Atlantic is all quiet for now with all models indicating nothing developing for the next 7-10 days.  It's a different story in the Eastern Pacific.  The second closer in system has a good chance of becoming a named storm by tomorrow.  Like you, I'm not ready for the "bad" part of Summer.  Finally...
If you grew up in the late 60s, one of my favorite weather songs came from the movie Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid".   I learned today the singer (B.J. Thomas) who made that Burt Bacharach written song famous has passed away from lung cancer at the age of 78.   We don't have to worry about any raindrops falling on our heads for another 2 days.   RIP B.J.  Stay tuned!
