Colorado Tornado & Slight Risk Tropical Troubles...

We have reached the time of the year when it's hot & humid every day and it will rain somewhere.  So let me begin with views of a tornado sent to me by my oldest son (Rob) and his wife (Sarah) as they were leaving a store near Longmont outside of Boulder yesterday afternoon.  It started as a funnel cloud and worked its way down to the ground.

These tornadoes are often called "landspouts" as they are not associated with a T-Storm complex and move much slower.  They still can cause significant damage as this one did, but fortunately no one was hurt.  The other story is the Tropics.

NHC has LOWERED the chance for development to 20% for sometime next week.  However, both the GFS and Euro develop a system in the western Gulf in the 10-12 day time frame.   If something is going to develop, it will have to be closer to us as a huge plume of Saharan dust is moving westward over the Atlantic.

It's an area to watch as we do every year once we get into Hurricane season.

We are into a dull summer pattern with daytime heating storms bubbling up enhanced by upper disturbances.

So expect the 7 day not to be of much value for the next several months!  Stay tuned!
