Hey Marvin, It's Not The Heat, It's The Humidity...

Was out golfing the past 2 days and noticed a significant change from one day to the next.  Tuesday was almost hot, but the nice breeze didn't make it feel awful.   Budda Boom, switch to today and it felt a lot hotter.  However, looking at the temperatures, they were about the same.  BUT...the dew points today were 4-6 degrees higher (more moisture/humidity) causing us to sweat more and feel drained sooner.

The deeper we get into summer, the hotter the actual temperatures will get.   So my message for today is simple.  If you are going to work or play outside during the next 3-4 months, you must stay hydrated or potentially dangerous (heat stroke) issues could develop with your body.  Drink BEFORE you get thirsty.

Saharan dust is pouring into the Atlantic so no tropical activity is expected there for many weeks.  Closer in, NHC is still giving a very slim chance for development over the extreme southern Caribbean
Sea.  They have lowered the chances down to 10 % which means nothing is likely to happen.

Satellite views of the Gulf show nothing happening with some storms staying well to our north as a cluster of heavy storms move out of Louisiana into Mississippi & Alabama.

Radar has seen a few showers just to our north and west, but the main storms are well north moving towards the east.   IF I were still on-air, I'd be saying instead of "a stray storm" next 3 days, I'd use "below normal " daily shower activity or "mostly dry".  Bottom line, gardeners will need to use the hose on their flowers and yards during the next 3-5 days.  By mid-week of next week, we could see a surge of tropical moisture move in from the Gulf increasing rain chances and making us less hot.  Stay tuned!
