Tropics Going To Sleep, But Rain Continues To be a Pain...

Let's begin with the good news.   After a hot start to the 2021 Hurricane Season, models indicate nothing happening for at least 10-14 days.   Several things have changed to quiet things down. The Saharan Dust layer is back over the Atlantic and the MJO has gone into the sinking phase in our part of the World.

All those early season tropical waves should not happen for awhile as long as the dust persists.
The Caribbean & Gulf are quiet and should stay that way if we can believe the models?!!!

The boundary along the northern Gulf has become less defined, but the tropical airmass remains in place over not just the South but all the way up into the Plains where an upper disturbance is enhancing T-Storms.   Note how many areas are getting rain.

Now flip to the western states.  I drew in where the continental divide is and you can see it's wet to the east and sunny & dry to the west.  The arrow show the bigger fires producing lots of smoke.

Locally more heavy downpours are around so we don't have to worry about fires.   The clouds and rain keep out temps down and little change is expected the next few days.  Welcome to Mildew City!  Stay tuned!
