Long Dry Spell About To End...

For us in SE LA/MS, a "long " dry spell is 7-10 days without rain.   That will end on Wednesday as our rain chances go way up and almost everyone should see a good soaking,   It's not due to a cold front coming, but rather a return of low level moisture  interacting with an upper disturbance.

Was watching Bruce Katz at 4 PM and he showed the computer graphics indicating the morning hours should be mostly dry over NOLA, but stormy along the Mississippi Gulf coast.  During the afternoon hours, those storms will develop westward over us.

So our long dry spell will end. but it's nothing compared to the folks our West.  Sacramento went 212 days with measurable rainfall as did much of California.  That is about to end as storms are lining up aiming a "river of moisture" at them that will signal a beginning of their rainy season.

Over the lower 48. there are no major systems, but there is quite a temperature difference between the east and west.  As the surface high shifts off the East coast, SE winds will bring back the Gulf muggies.

As the westerlies get stronger bringing us more cold fronts. the Tropics have essentially shut down.

None of the models bring any disturbance into the Caribbean or Fulf for the next 10-14 days.  Finally...

After seeing my sunrise picture posted yesterday, my daughter-in-law (Emily) sent me a recent pic from their backyard in Edmond. OK.  Then my oldest son (Rob) sent me this moonrise in Arizona where he is on vacation.   Mother Nature can be pretty.  Stay tuned!
