We're Moving On Up, Heading For Number 2

I was watching David at 5 PM and he showed a graphic that has us now at # 5 in terms of wettest years.  With 2 1/2 months left, if we just get our "normal" monthly rainfall we'll easily get above 90"+ for the year vaulting us to # 2 all time at MSY.

We've had .09" at MSY so far today and it was still raining at 6 pm.

These showers are along a "cold" front that will slowly move through over night with drier air filtering in behind it.  This is not a strong front, but it will bring back lower humidity making it feel much better for the rest of this week.

When it's still 80+ up in Montana, you know this is not a REAL cold front.   There is an upper low that will cut off just to our north for the next 2-3 days.  We should be on the drier side, and as it pulls away by Thursday, our rain chances will be near zero into the weekend.

The water vapor view clearly shows the drier air working in to our state.  If you're heading to the beaches this week, their weather won't be as nice with some showers lingering around the eastern side of the upper low.

The Tropics have essentially gone quiet with no model developing anything during the next 10-14 days.  Normally, I would have called the "Fat Lady" already, however, I am waiting another week before having her sing "the party's over".   My gut tells me anything that might form in late October into November will be steered well to our east.  Zeta taught me a lesson last year.  I feel we're done for 2021, but let's give it another week just to be sure.  Stay tuned!
