Computer models are hinting that there will be a big dip (Polar Vortex) in the jet stream forming during the first week in December that will tap the Canadian cold air and bring it down to the Gulf coast.
The top graphic is today's upper SW flow with the middle view valid on Sunday morning showing a modest trough over the Great Lakes & NE. The bottom pic is valid for Dec. 5th showing a full cut off low centered over Nashville. IF that proves to be reality, expect to see a major snowstorm develop over the eastern states with cold air surging down to us. let's not get too excited just yet as we all know how models change and are less accurate the farther out in time. It's something to watch for in the next 10-14 days,
On this busy travel day, the West & East coasts are mainly clear with a cold front causing some clouds and showers over the central Plains.. With the center of high pressure moving off the East coast, warmer air is flowing northward on the backside along with low level moisture. Note the dew point in Houston is 60+ and you'll feel the difference when you go outside in the morning. As the front arrives after dark, we could see some showers, perhaps a rumble of thunder during the start of the Saints game.
