First Front Fizzles While Real Cold Arrives For Weekend...

We expected a small line of showers with today's cold front and that looked reasonable shortly after dawn. ,Radar showed a solid line of storms with lingering rain behind the front., but all that quickly fell apart as the front moved through south LA/MS.

The top radar view is from 6:40 AM with the next 2 hours later.  The next view is from 10:30 when I was on hole 13 at Chateau Country Club.  There was a quick burst of wind (gust front), but we did not get any rain.  Temperatures fell 5-8 degrees but quickly rebounded once the sun came back out.  the bottom view was around 1 PM with the rain all gone over us.

The main storm energy is way up north with a strong push in the jet stream bringing down cold air from Canada.

Lots of snow is falling across the northern Plains where the secondary push of cold air is driving southward.  Note Sioux Falls, South Dakota is 33 while Omaha is 55.  that chill will arrive here before daybreak on Saturday.

So enjoy your Friday before you'll need sweaters and jackets over the weekend.   This will not be a long lasting cold spell as we're back 70+, maybe near 80 again next week.  Stay tuned!
