The bluish purple areas are the locations where some frozen precipitation is possible. Note it does not include coastal Mississippi or south of Lake Pontchartrain. Just looking at radar, not much is going on.
The Canadian cold is pouring southward over the northern Plains and will arrive here around daybreak on Thursday. That's when our high temp. will occur with temps falling into the 40s then 30s after dark.
You can see after tomorrow, the next 7+ days will be rather cold. I will bring my tropical plants into my He-Shed tomorrow afternoon where they are likely to stay into next week.
As the cold front plows into warmer and moist air, there is a slight risk for some severe storms Wednesday night into early Thursday. Dew Points already have surged into the 50s along the Texas coast.
The top graphic has David Bernard showing the light freeze this morning on the North Shore and away from Lake P. south. I did notice some frost at my house as I went out to get the paper. Tonight will be much warmer since the low level wind flow has shifted back off the Gulf. North winds will arrive before dawn on Thursday dragging down out next blast of cold air. The main question will be...Will it be cold enough to give us a wintry mix on Friday morning? North of the Lake I'd give you a 70-80% chance to see some sleet/snow/freezing rain. South of Lake P maybe 5-10% chance while along the coasts, zero chance. This will be a long stretch of cold weather lasting into next week. If the surface low on Friday is farther down in the Gulf and the surface air is colder, hey, who knows? Maybe I raise those snow chances higher? Stay tuned!

Now, you know as well as I do that there is not a snowball's chance in hades that it's going to snow here in New Orleans.
