Goodbye Snow & Cold Of Colorado & Oklahoma...

I've read the many comments from folks wanting more & more cold air. They don't want it to get hot again for a long time.  I understand your feelings, but be careful what you wish for.  I've spent the past 7 days out west where the temperature never got above freezing.  When it's 11 above outside with 20-25 mph winds making it feel like 10 below, trust me, it does not feel very good.  In fact they had FROSTBITE Warnings!  No fooling!

The snow covered Rockies looked beautiful but the 1-2" of sleet in Oklahoma City became nasty when several hours of freezing drizzle covered the sleet in a slippery glaze.   I remember such a time years ago back in Dayton, Ohio when 8" of snow was followed by a half inch of ice.  If you enjoy the cold, head north.  But there is a reason many of us live in the Deep South.

The main storm track enters the West coast and flows across southern Canada.  That is keeping the brutal cold from coming back to the south this next week.   But the brutal cold in Canada has moderated as you don't see the 40+ below zero anymore.

The current mass of cold air is slowly moderating, but it's so extensive that it'll take several more days to leave.

There is a large cloud shield that covers areas to our west and north.   We are not likely to get back into sunshine until Monday.   Some light showers will be around on Sunday making it uncomfortable to watch any parades.  Monday and Tuesday look almost perfect with warmer temps.

So all of you "cold air geeks", enjoy Sunday as a big warm up is coming back for next week.

If you are going out to the parades tonight, expect no rain and comfy cool temperatures.   As for me, I'll be cuddled up with my heated blanket and watching Endymion on FOX 8.  Hail Endymion!  Stay tuned!
