Another Severe Threat Coming To Gulf South...

Just a week removed from a powerful tornado, a strong upper disturbance coming into California promises to trigger more severe storms Tuesday and Wednesday.  Right now it appears the main upper energy will go to our north, but we saw with the last system, we must be ready incase severe storms develop.  SPC takes a level 2 risk (slight) into the southern Plains tomorrow and then over us as a level 2 & 3 (enhanced) risk late Wednesday.

This disturbance is bringing much needed rainfall to California & the SW.

Models are timing the strongest storms into SE LA. just before dark on Wednesday.

I'm optimistic that the stronger storms will remain to our north as the upper energy lifts away.  

The arrows show the center of the upper low coming into California today, lifting into Kansas on Wednesday and then into Wisconsin for Thursday.  Hopefully that will keep the worse stuff away from us?

While the West turns wet, we continue to enjoy beautiful weather as humidity starts to return as the surface high shifts eastward.

It remains Winter-like from the Great Lakes to the Northeast while Texas is seeing summer heat.  Note the dew points here have jumped into the 60s and that low level moisture will help fuel Wednesday's storms.

Numerous fires can be seen on satellite views.  Winds have increased and that might mean morning fog tomorrow will not be as bad as this morning.

Tomorrow will be a good day to make sure your FOX 8 Weather App is updated to receive severe warnings.  Again, IF we have a severe threat, it won't arrive until after 3 PM on Wednesday.  Stay tuned!
