Bravo to NWS for getting a warning out right around 7 PM as my FOX 8 weather app alerted me to the warning/danger. Even if you weren't watching any of the local channels, your phone should have alerted you to this storm. I read the comments where some of you feel (rightfully so) you have never seen these kinds of storms before. However, memories are very short and usually these things have happened before long before you were born. SPC's data actually indicates the frequency of severe (EF-3+) tornadoes has DECREASED during the last 50+ years. We may be seeing more smaller/weaker tornadoes, but there are fewer (thankfully) severe tornadoes..
A weak upper disturbance has triggered clouds and a few showers over us this afternoon. This system is rotating around the base of a larger upper trough over the eastern states.
Under the dense cloud cover to our north, it's really chilly. As the trough lifts out to the NE tomorrow, the core of the cold will go with it.
We should see all day sunshine with comfortably mild temps. after a chilly start. Note how low (dry air) the dew points are back over Texas.
Actually, these temps are more like San Diego, which is why so many love southern California. However, I believe we appreciate this more than they do since we all know what's coming in just 4-6 weeks.
Going out tonight, you may notice how breezy it is. You will need a sweater/jacket after dark. Dry weather will continue through the weekend with a big warm up coming next week. Finally,
