Computer Models Were Dead On With Morning Storms...

My last posting showed the computer model timing of our predawn storms.  A review of radar pics finds the timing extremely accurate with a squall line racing across SE LA/MS between 5 AM & 8 AM.

The top graphic is from 5 AM with the next 3 being one hour later at 6, 7, & 8 AM.  The bottom graphic is from 4 PM showing the storms approaching Jacksonville.  This was a fast moving upper disturbance.

We'll have 2 dry days before another upper system plows through early on Friday..  That system is forming over the Pacific NW.

Computer models take that disturbance quickly into the southern Plains.  SPC's severe outlook for Thursday into Friday has us in the level 2 (slight) risk.

The top graphic has today's upper low with the next view valid for Wednesday morning.  Following that is the view valid for late Thursday with the bottom pic being the potential severe risk area.

As the upper low over north Louisiana shifts to the east, some wrap around clouds will spread over us tonight into early Wednesday morning.  Sunshine should return for the PM.  You can see there is no cold air following this system so we should bounce back to 70+ for the rest of this week.

My rain gage recorded .65" and that was fairly representative for the South Shore.  The North Shore had the heavier 1-3" totals.

So for Wednesday & Thursday we'll be between systems with our next rain threat after dark on Thursday into early on Friday.

We'll see some clouds return later tonight but temps on on the mild side.  Finally, I had lunch today at Drago's with Glynn Boyd (Nancy Parker's husband).  As usual, Tommy C's food was outstanding, and seeing Glynn was especially great.  He literally carries Nancy with him as the chain around his neck has his & her wedding bands.   That's one strong, caring man.  Stay tuned!
